Google’s “doodle” March 8th,

This year’s International Women’s Day is themed, Embrace Equity. Today’s TAT will be brief due to technology nearly winning the day here in the office, but I wanted to comment on this days’ importance, globally and here in the US.

Our founders, as ethically motivated and sensible as they were, also were products of their times. Today we would interpret, “all men are created equal” as implying women too. Not so in colonial America. Tragically, it wouldn’t be until 1920 that US women, no matter how accomplished or affluent, would acquire even a simple right to vote. Not even now are women treated with equity in most careers and more.

The premise of American rights is that no matter how well we progress towards our founders’ goals for our fledgling republic, there is still more to do. We see this in so many areas of the nation in our modern times. We’ve progressed and regressed towards those goals off and on throughout our history. When it comes to true US values, we have been in a regression mode since the Trump era began.

Now that we are getting back on track, let’s take the proper steps to meet our founding principles. This includes equity for our women citizens and also the women of the nations, we seek to assist.

Regardless of which faith you believe in, I don’t can’t imagine anyone’s version of G-D, being tolerant of anything less than equity for women.

There we have it, it’s a moral and US value to level the playing field in all respects for all humans and today, is a focus on the humans that are women.
