I’m a little more optimistic about resurrecting American democracy today than I have been in years, especially during the Trump era. Trump’s treasonous indictment is the perfect opportunity for truly principled conservatives to take a stand they can be proud of. That stand is a baby step in separating the principled from the treasonous MAGA crowd, that now controls the entire party. Will they have the personal courage and enough reverence for our founding principles to do so? American democracy depends on it.
I will not apologize for labeling MAGA folks treasonous. People are what they do, not what they say. Principled conservatives, regardless of how addicted they are to their political identity, now have the opportunity or rather the obligation to stand up and be counted, as standing against treason and not supportive of a party controlled by treasonous extremists. Voting party over country is better described, ignoring true American principles. If truly principled GOP voters stand up now, apologize and begin embracing truth, honor and the American way, they will begin again to provide the factual debate that our nation needs to hammer out real solutions… not political ones.
To be fair, much of the MAGA crowd is behaving as they do because people with my experience in adversarial influence, have conned them for decades and corrupted their American identity with the tenets of fake patriotism. This is especially true for the entire time that fake news outlets like FOX, have been on the air. This is a very long story which I will be addressing in detail, in the coming weeks.
The entire blame does not apply to the MAGA crowd alone. They are victims of a decades long con. Yes, this is my professional opinion and not only based on my career in national security, but because I have been researching Fox for at least a decade. When I publish my findings, it will evoke considerable angst in the controlling element of the GOP… MAGA!
Back to why this is a great opportunity for America to get back on the right course, if we dare. Especially if the principled conservatives, don their shield and their moral courage to boot the MAGA extremists to the curb. Some of the specific items I will build here on TAT over the coming weeks will be to explain the points below, in detail. My short points today may appear to be unrelated but are actually interwoven, diverse topics each playing a critical role into our national security, every bit as much as our true American identity. Below are some of the threads that woven together, become the magic carpet of, the selling of American democracy. In today’s case, the current GOP wields these threads as a bludgeon against the heads of truly principled Americans, right, left or otherwise.
Political parties have always attempted to carefully define their politics, as patriotic but also in a way that differentiates them from the opposition.
While that I do not condone anyone redefining our founding principles, only today’s version of the GOP is a true, quantifiable national security threat. Not since the South Carolina seceded from the Union on December 20th, 1860 has America been seriously challenged with fake American values that would divide our nation, dangerously.
It is not that there are no principled conservatives in the party but that they have no voice when the party of Trump and his MAGA extremists control the party
Like Democrats and other parties, the GOP is full of folks more addicted to party than they are our nation
America, is literally designed for well and accurately informed citizens to debate the direction our nation will travel.
The problem is, when boatloads of cash and power become their pursuit, instead of serving the nation, American principles become the victims.
Most Americans understand and recognize truth. Peer pressure for party over country and based on fake patriotism, overwhelms their honesty all too often.
There is no, “party” in the constitution
Peer pressure often comes in the form of propaganda, not salient points worthy of discussion.
Both parties have been influenced by unethical propagandists and influencers but only today’s GOP is addicted to the extremist ideology often shared with Russia and countless other fascist/ authoritarian governments around the world. This is a direct threat to US national security.
We must put an end to these unethical influencers and the support of elite wealth individuals and corporations that support the extremists for their own selfish purposes and… at the expense of honest Americans.
Big oil, big Pharma, Airlines, health insurers etc. keep the MAGA folks well funded so that they will legislate more tax breaks that the rest of working Americans are not capable of employing.
We must recognize the opportunity to bring the principled conservatives back into the fold of respectable Americans, is a benefit, not hinderance to American democracy. It’s not because they have different policies than the MAGA crowd at the moment, but rather that it’s time that we all, lent them the courage to break with MAGA.
Are you asking yet, what these points have to do with Trump’s righteous indictment? The paragraphs below accurately depict the narrative of our nation’s most acute national security threat.
MAGA extremists, led by a traitorous and fully corrupt POTUS, have undermined US national security to the point of endangering US democracy and that of our allies globally. They have been conned by an army of unethical influencers/ propagandists that have conditioned the party over time, to to believe hate, Russia, corruption, authoritarianism, Christian nationalism, guns and exclusion are American values. This conditioning leaves no room for true American narratives and they become subconsciously triggered by words, phrases, numbers, colors and three word chants to voluntarily blot out their former patriotic narratives.
This type of conditioning works and if y’all remember a chap named Pavlov and his conditioning of his dog, you know right away that this is no myth. When so conditioned, they will mostly respond to what most understand as “dogwhistles” subconsciously.
Why I am cautiously optimistic
Treason is a harsh identity marker in US history. We all know the narrative of Benedict Arnold, Robert Hanson, the Rosenbergs, etc. They are an important identity marker in US collective consciences. This marker just may be the “last straw that breaks the back of the MAGA addiction.” I believe strongly that this specific marker, may do more than a lifetime of speeches and messaging to break the MAGA narratives they have been conditioned with. Of course, this will not be a complete break which will take years of conscious effort to solidify.
Employing true patriotic influence has long been a tradition of our nation. True patriotism has seen us through every single foreign attack from the very beginning of our nation. MAGA’s patriotism is built on a foundation of extremist ideology, or rather fake patriotism. The 2015 thru present Russian assault on American democracy, is the first time we as a nation, have not come together to unify over serious external threats. Russia and the Soviets have worked for decades to achieve what they did with Trump and MAGA, often using un-American organizations like the NRA, Super Pacs, Newt Gingrich politics in Congress etc, as the action arms of Russian cooperation.

It is a difficult mission to break the hold that extremist narratives have on people. Those such narratives, once established become part of an individuals identity. Since it’s personal, instinctively we work to protect our identity, even to the point of January 6th type violence. January 6th was an inflection point for principled conservatives as well. Sadly, party peer pressure has beat down honest Republican criticism ever since. Now, no GOP congressmen, including all veteran congressmen will take a stand against the big lie or January 6th. Helping our fellow citizens to regain access to truth and reality, it’s important to build on both, with positive tactics.
Most folks wish to be ethical. Most Americans reject political violence, extremism and treason but the hold of narratives, even false ones have a power that most, even those within the US national security community do not understand and refuse to learn about. What every leader in America, from rural America to our largest cities, from local leaders to the Oval Office, must begin to build on unity through these issues, which created so much anxiety in the hearts of principled Americans, partially under the influence of extremist influencers like FOX, Brietbart, NewsMax, OAN etc.
So what are we supposed to do from a personal perspective?
Seek truth and be honest about it.
Read credible news like REUTERS, The Associated Press, USA Today and BBC News.
Extend hands to whoever you see on the other side to respectfully accept truth.
Derision and name calling are not the way. Screaming I told you so, will not reunite America.
As a warning though, hardcore MAGA types are unrecoverable in most cases. It’s just how narrative works. Still, “avoid getting into the mud with a pig, you’ll just get dirty and the pig will win with experience.“
If these folks are family and friends… deny them an audience for their extremist diatribes by avoiding, ignoring and shutting down arguments with them.
To close this now longer than expected article, I leave everyone with this; we all know and love folks that are permanent passengers on the extremist, MAGA train. Defending our true American founding principles with words and actions are the best medicine for diminishing with this tragic phase of our history, not dignifying their conspiracy theories in heated debate.
Quite frankly and as I often write, I follow George Washington’s assessment of political factions; that they are a threat to our still young and maturing republic.
Please, let’s all find common ground on the field of our founding principles. It’s American way. American principled conservatives, if you believe in country over party, now’s your chance to show us.
