"Peace on Earth", from our hearth to yours
Regardless of who or what you believe, we should be able to agree on this
Well, it was well below freezing this morning in Texas, but my heart leans resolutely towards warmth this time of year. That warmth is a gift to all, and regardless of which holiday, if any that the world celebrates, it is the embodiment of the season. Empathy is abundant, along with kindness, generosity and far more. There are no times in the year that most of the world comes closer to the morality most of us strive for throughout the year and in fact, our lives.
My resolution, for the New Year, will be to build on the warmth of the season and strive to extend goodness over evil, in the coming year. War and other forms of evil must be pushed back under the dark, immoral rock that it crawled out from under. Only human beings can do this. We are born with this capacity, if we only embrace it and further the inspiration.
As an old soldier with multiple combat deployments over the holiday season, I can assure you that “Peace on Earth” is near and dear to my heart. When I write about threats to humans, especially those who are victims of manmade evil, I redouble my prayers for this timeless wish. My prayers are also for every human to work towards a better world in the coming year. If we can do this together, 2023 will bring us ever closer to attaining peace.
I am yet to encounter a moral belief system that requires hate, intolerance and judgement because of, nation, ethnicity, race, religion, sexual preference and the too-long list of other exclusionary groupings. We all know in our hearts that hate and all that comes with it, is wrong and immoral. The choice is ours. My prayers in pursuit of Peace on Earth are simple; “let all of us chose love, kindness, empathy and goodness rather than fighting over artificial differences between humans. We can do this… if only we try.
From our hearth to yours, we wish everyone, not only, Peace on Earth but the warmth that comes with pursuing it.
Paul
