TAT readers,
This is the first of two posts today. As long-time readers know, I get up and over coffee, peruse the news and decide what to write about. Today, I came across a startling (in normal times) article from the AP, about the DOGE cuts intended for the VA/ Veterans Administration. I will always honor my oath to the nation and its associated commitment to my fellow, brothers and sisters in arms, past or present. Today’s AP reporting triggered a strong response from me that I originally posted to Facebook.
I only keep my FB account because as retired Army and as one who has quite literally lived in multiple countries and states, it is the only way to keep up with friends and family. Other than that, FB is a living hell of corruption, troll, bot, data collection and phishing scams. My time there is relatively limited and very carefully approached.
Below are my comments from this morning. I hope that you find some value in them.
Cheers,
Paul

To my brothers and sisters in arms, former or current, please read this morning's article from the AP/ Associated Press... very carefully.
In my personal opinion, this is a full-frontal assault on those of us that the current POTUS, calls, "losers and suckers." Tragically, it is but one effort against those who've worn the cloth of our country, at home or on the battlefield. Since the administration is now attempting to fully implement Project 2025, then you already know that Trump, Musk and their party, are also coming for our retirement and especially, our disability income.
President bone spurs and the rest of the tacitly immoral GOP leadership that stand by doing absolutely nothing to protect us from these assaults, can nor should be any longer tolerated. I recommend loud, public demonstrations outside of Republican congressmen's and senators' offices, with invitations to all local press.
As all of you know by now, I despise the very concept of political parties, so know this; that I am not speaking out in favor of any party. I'm simply employing my first amendment rights, to "cover the six" of all who've had the high privilege of serving our nation in uniform.
In the military, "cover my six" means, watch my back. That is precisely what I am doing with this post.
To make matters worse, in the past week, our CIC/ Commander in Chief, didn't just ally us with Putin and his cronies, but shut down all of our operations against Russia. We are now tacitly allies, of a genocidal, global aggressor, without parallel in this century. Trump and his cronies did not just violate their oath to the nation, they have forced each and every veteran to reexamine their own. I will honor my oath, without fail.
That oath is:
Enlistment Oath. Each person enlisting in an armed force shall take the following oath:
“I, (state name of enlistee), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. (So help me God)."
If any of you fellow veterans feel as I do about the attack against us, please feel free to share this here on FB or anywhere else, that you believe it would do some good. This administration will not keep their word so we must protect ourselves via collective resistance.
My kindest regards,
Paul
Be back later with today’s regular essay. Thank you all again for your support.
