Paul, as I have commented to you previously, as a father of a soon to be 15 year old daughter who is mixed race and whose Trinidadian family has African, Indian, and Chinese ancestry she becomes a target in this country. I worry about her second mother (her mother died of cancer when she was three) who is a Spaniard and may draw the attention of ICE, though she is now a US citizen. You are damn right we will defend our daughters, mothers, aunts, grandmothers and women in our lives!

You are courageous to lay out for all to see your PTSD regarding being unable to defend those who could not defend themselves! I hear, feel, and share your anger at what is just being brushed aside by the GOP.

We will all continue speaking truth to power and defending what is right!

Thank you so kindly Paul. I too would be concerned for travel to the US, in your circumstances too. I have a couple of similar concerns with both of my daughters. We have discussed this issue in-depth. These thuggish rules and actions, aren’t just un-American, but inhumane. I second your commitment to defend all of the women in our lives.

Godspeed sanity

Is there ANY conservative principle that the Republicans are not currently betraying? A partial list of everything they've been braying about is: human trafficking, perversion, family values, government goon squads against the citizenry, and personal data misuse. I suspect they never cared about any of it but raised the issues to aggrandize and amuse themselves. If Mr. Cobaugh, a Texan, says they are failing, they must be failing.

Well said, A.G., and thank you for the kind comments. They may be Republicans but they darn sure aren't "conservatives." I wrote about this a year or so ago. If you're interested, here's the link: https://www.truthaboutthreats.com/p/maga-gop-ideology-is-not-conservative

My best for your holiday weekend.

Thanks Paul for this post. Change can not occur until we enter the heart of all that you have touched upon. We can not wait till it touches our lives and family members. We are all members of a larger family and one person's pain is all our pain. Our neighbors are not just those whose properties abut ours. It is so much bigger than that. Until we realize we are all one family,

will never care and move forward.

Amen Rick, and beautifully expressed.. Yes, you are correct, what touches one, touches all. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but one day, we all feel the repercussions of decisions made now. Tragically, those who impose suffering on children, seem to have no concept of such things. One day they will.

All best

Given the prevalence of firearms in Texas it amazes me that none of the fathers/brothers/husbands/boyfriends of the 26,000 women forced to carry rape pregnancies has not taken matters into his own hands regarding the state Republican party. That statistic was just the first year of the abortion prohibition, I don't know what it is now.
