San Antonio Strong/ the anti-fascist protests April 19th

Today is simply a very short note about my trip downtown to our city Plaza, built dating back to the early 1700s. The crowd was large, loud and inspired. It wasn’t a matter of agreeing or disagreeing with all of the speakers, mostly representing individual causes, but putting the removal of the fascist Trump/ GOP administration out of business… first. Freedom of speech, freedom to assemble, freedom to criticize our government and freedom to worship who and how we wish, if at all were what was really on display today, in the muggy, overcast 80-degree weather, common to us this time of year. In short, we were Americans being Americans. All I just described is crammed into a relatively few lines of the First Amendment to our constitution and ensconced within our Bill of Rights.
We were protesting the fascist intentions of the current administration, hellbent on overturning that sacred founding document and depriving us of every single syllable of the First Amendment. No one, not even the government in our republic has the authority to decree what we believe. They cannot stop us from protesting nor, as they are doing now, unconstitutionally banishing those dissenters from our shores, with whom they disagree with. This is what makes the Trump/ Putin administration, fascist. For the record, I never use words that I don’t understand. When I say fascist, that is precisely what I mean. The subservience of the entire Republican Party, to Trump, Musk and Putin’s demands, also makes them fascists, because they willfully, do the bidding of the administration.
I may address this more in-depth at the beginning of the week but wanted to give you my first thoughts after an inspiring few hours.
Onward America, it’s time we reclaimed our rights. Be sure to let your congressmen know exactly how you feel and why. Overwhelm them with inquiries, demands, appointments and media coverage. Tell America if they are fighting for you and the constitution or if they are supporting the fascism of the MAGA GOP. Demand your local media cover their actions, votes and donors. Demand that they honor their oaths, to protect and defend the constitution. Demand that they stop lying about what we all see, hear and experience ourselves. In short, demand that they dig deep and see if they can find their lost moral backbone.
Enjoy your holiday weekend, regardless of which holidays you celebrate or if not at all. My guess that every sitting Republican in our congress, will not be getting a visit from the Easter Bunny this year, unless it’s to bite them on their treasonous hindquarters.
