TAT readers,
Here’s a short article. As noted Monday, time is precious this week and so my pieces are significantly shorter. Some may approve of that too ;)
In today’s news, one story stood out, simply because complete uniqueness; it was announced that the EU was going ahead with more sanctions on Russia, despite the Trump administration unwillingness to participate. They are quite intelligently, going it alone. What a sad commentary on how little America matters, in the wake of the Trumpian GOP, tossing our national good name, off the cliff in a continuing, potentially fatal, freefall.
Just yesterday, both Trump and Putin had been reveling in public statements about increased commerce between the US and Russia. Overall though, their highly touted phone call earlier this week, revealed far less than optimistic outputs:
Meanwhile, Putin is even more dangerous to our NATO and EU allies. Well, the current pro-Putin GOP, that’s dismantling our IC/ Intelligence Community, and our military. It wasn’t long ago earlier in this nightmare administration, that our national security team, in conjunction with Trump, stated that they may or may not, respond to support NATA against an attack, a blatant abandonment of our NATO, Article V requirement. The EU would be criminally negligent of their duties, had they not taken this unilateral action against Russia. The best analogy to the administration’s sellout of US and Global democracy would sound something like this to our European allies; “I don’t mind if the serial killer, genocidal rapist lives in your neighborhood, not mine, and he’s still does business we me.”
The Trump administration has long been dishonest about NATO’s contributions to the alliance. First, a measurement of GDP spending for defence, is just like DOGE “cuts,” random, uninformed and devoid of understanding what nations give and don’t give to the Alliance. Sure, NATO needed a jumpstart to begin taking military investment as seriously they now do, but then again, Global democracy and rights, ensured by NATO, wasn’t working against Russia and the US for their security.
I spent time with excellent NATO warriors, men and women, during most of my Iraq and Afghan deployments. NATO has deterred Russian aggression for over seventy years and will not fold in the face of Putin. Will the US honor our Treaty agreement in regard to Article 5 if Putin does in fact attack a NATO treaty member nation?
Here’s the bottom line to today’s short piece and from the 35,000 foot level; What is occurring is of one the oldest tactics in warfare and insurgency, “divide and conquer.” As I have written in the past, I believe there to be a Putinesque/ Russian concept of sovereignty, driving global realignment. I won’t torture everyone today but will include the links to the essays, where I discuss this in detail. That strategy would, in my professional opinion, see Russia as the big power with dominance over all Europe. Putin wants a pliant Europe that is no threat to his rebirth of the old Soviet Empire and more. Dividing the US from NATO and the EU is part the strategy to divide and conquer, making Europe, unable to withstand pressure from an ever-aggressive Putin, and without assistance from the US.
In China, Xi is working towards global domination by 2049 and has a strategy. In India, Modi’s Hindutva BJP party. reigns with its own eye on a resplendent Hindu movement, instead of the healthy modern democracy that was blooming. Modi is a key player the global realignment and at this writing, I’m am still not sure where Modi’s India fits into the intended realignment.
The only way to avert such a dramatic and oppressive strategic realignment, is to remove this traitorous administration from office. They are the ones that are making strategic moves towards the aforementioned ends, such as ordering the US national security community to stand down on operations against Russia, handing over concessions to Russia before talks even began and rewarding Putin and his bro Xi in China. This is a story for another day.
Finally, I’m sorry Europe, Canada, Panama and the other friends, caught in this dangerous new tectonic shift in geo-politics. You were right to break up with us. You’re going to have to hold the line, until real American patriots hold these traitors accountable.
I will try and get back with one more short piece this week.
Cheers,
Paul
What Mr. Cobaugh may not have had time to go into was the Russian plan to build Eurasian influence that dates back at least to the mid-1990’s. Their goal is a multi-polar world where the U.S. is no longer a major pole of influence. One its main architects is Alexandr Dugin, a co-author of Foundations of Geopolitics (English translation available) and a major thought leader of Putin. (His Wordpress site also has an English translation) The plan, since shortly after the fall of the USSR, was to subvert the US from within, leveraging racial, cultural, and ethnic divisions to destroy our ability to buttress liberal democracy in Europe. How do you suppose that’s going? They found the weakest link, who exceeded all their expectations, a needy, self-interested stooge. The rest you can read when Paul gets a chance to write about it. Or you could read it in the grin on Putin’s face after trump’s obsequious meeting with him in Oslo.
