Trump apologists, please stop excusing a grave threat to US and allied national security.
The evidence is damning
During the August 8th, executed search warrant at Mar-a-Lago, the former POTUS has steered himself into a legal bear trap.
I don't wish to get into a long philosophical debate about law, politics or anything other than the mountain of damning evidence resulting from the search.
The former POTUS himself attempted one rebuttal by saying that he'd "declassified" these documents after Jan 20th, 2021. At that time, he had zero authority to do so. The mere possession of those classified documents is a felony under those conditions.
This excellent timeline with clear, concise and most credible reporting from The Associated Press demonstrates my points clearly. The AP story is linked at the bottom. It's long overdue that responsible and patriotic Americans, regardless of ideological leanings, challenge their honesty and start looking at reality.
I will also say what most responsible patriots think, but don't say out loud; those documents have but a handful of values to the Mar-a-Lago crew. That is, to undermine US and allied national security for a price and/ or to exercise what Russia calls "Kompromat" or commonly known as having leverage over people, organizations and nations.
All of this poses a very grave risk to the US, our allies and in fact, the rules-based, international order. While that I wished this weren't true, I harbor deep fears that I am logically correct. The IC and U.S. Department of Justice are now in full swing of assessing what, if any resultant damage.
For reasons of classification, we may never know the full truth but those who risk their lives in support of our security, most certainly will experience dramatically more risk due to the potential. This is not a forgivable (in my opinion) or legally excusable series of actions taken by the former POTUS and his co-conspirators.
I simply ask, that supporters of the former POTUS, who put party over country, take a deep breath and stop being apologists for this grave breech of national security. Let the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) U.S. Department of Justice, Office of the Director of National Intelligence and United States Department of Defense do their jobs and await the results
