Condolences accepted and appreciated. For the record, when R-23 first ran for this office in the GOP primary I voted for someone else. At the time I considered him a carpetbagger because he did not live in the district he wanted to represent. That level of dishonesty and political opportunism still colors my views of R-23. While I still consider him a political embarrassment unfortunately all the alternatives offered by the opposition party are exponentially far worse. I think this says something about the overall parlous state of Texas politics which is pervasive across all political parties.

Agreed and also, that Will Hurd is a good man. I was quite disappointed with his staff as that his office was in my neck of the woods. Will's ideas about the border were and still are valid opportunities for a reasonable strategy. Bottom line though is that our immigration issues cannot be solved with a fence, wall or Abbott's dumbassery of a couple football fields long, buoys.

The whole world is experiencing record migration issues and that will not change for the better anytime soon, if at all. The state sanctioned cruelty at the border is the antitheses of solid American values. We are a nation of immigrants practicing NIMBY (not in my back yard) strategies to thwart a problem bigger than the whole world can currently manage, even if we tried. Culture wars only get in the way of solutions, regardless of who starts them.
