TAT readers,
Okay my friends, with only four days left until the D-Day of modern US Midterm elections, I will passionately and bluntly point out that our Republican-led congress and their voters, are enabling the administration’s treason. In my lay legal opinion, this makes both complicit in the crime. Treason is an acutely serious allegation but as they say, “if the shoe fits.” The entire Republican congress and especially their veterans, well know what they are supporting and have no excuse. Republican voters should know, but are irreparably brainwashed to believe anything uttered by their favorite malignant narcissist and traitor-in-chief, “Benedict Donald. I understand that this may sound insulting and offensive to many Republicans among my family and friends, but our backs are against the wall in terms of our national security and that must take precedence. Besides, they are to blame, not honest Americans.
I have heard the phrase, “treason weasel” for decades but it has taken on an entire new meaning in the Trump and MAGA GOP era. According to the Urban Dictionary it’s now specifically defined as seen in the quote below.
"A large, slug-like mammal known for its fluffy yellow hair, dusty orange skin, and propensity for crass displays of public preening. Thought to have originally congealed from the floors of a forgotten bathroom in the Kremlin, the Treason Weasel is an invasive species, known for its ability to destabilize nations and threaten thermonuclear war. If you think your government has a Treason Weasel infestation, immediately contact Bob Mueller and arrange for an extermination." - Treason Weasel - Urban Dictionary - October 31, 2017
As blunt as my accusations are, they are also true. As you read further, you will clearly see the law and its direct correlation to the administration’s actions as enabled by a spineless, Republican-led Congress, complicit Cabinet members and other villains like Elon Musk, Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff. I will familiarize you with the definition of treason from the US Code and link my October 13th essay that makes the case for Republican “aid and comfort” to our enemies, a component of the legal definition of treason. It’s not just the singular issue of the Diesel purchase from Putin either. The corroborating evidence goes back years.
"Whoever, owing allegiance to the United States, levies war against them or adheres to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort within the United States or elsewhere, is guilty of treason and shall suffer death, or shall be imprisoned not less than five years and fined under this title but not less than $10,000; and shall be incapable of holding any office under the United States." (June 25, 1948, ch. 645, 62 Stat. 807; Pub. L. 103–322, title XXXIII, § 330016(2)(J), Sept. 13, 1994, 108 Stat. 2148.) - 18 U.S. Code § 2381 - Treason - Legal Information Institute - Cornell Law School
This part of the US code is painfully simple, regardless of how Chief Justice John Roberts and the rest of the right-wing Associate Justices sitting on our SCOTUS, tend to twist our laws into pretzels to support this authoritarian administration and its oligarchs. If this sounds like sour grapes from me, it’s because it is. I will never forgive Roberts and his henchmen on the bench for the “immunity decision” or the Citizens United decision, that both directly led to this treasonous moment in the history of our republic.
Had Chief Justice John Roberts not anointed Trump “king,” and immune from prosecution unless convicted during impeachment and rogue soulless billionaire oligarchs not financed Trump, there never would have been a “Trump-era.” Yes, it is precisely that simple. Of course, Russian influence operations collaborating with extreme, right-wing media like FOX News and their ilk, brainwashed Republicans with fake patriotism for decades. Our global ranking as a democracy has dropped precipitously since January 2025 across most ranked categories.

In fact, those research institutes and think tanks that evaluate global democracy, have been startled at the speed of our decline, now labeling our once proud nation, “a failing democracy.” We no longer even rank amongst the global top ten.
"The big story is that the United States fell from .84 to .74 on the Electoral democracy index (EDI), and from 0.75 to 0.57 on the Liberal Democracy index (LDI)—the largest annual decline in US history. This is mostly due to a decline in media freedom as well as Congress’s failure to hold the executive accountable, combined with some loss of independence of the judiciary as well as weakened rule of law and protection of civil liberty." - Democracy Report 2026 - V-Dem
So we now know what constitutes treason, who is primarily responsible and what it has done to our democracy, but what precisely make this GOP regime treasonous? Let’s start with Trump’s recent Diesel deal with Putin.
"My specific grievance revolves around the administration’s and Republican-led congress’s acquiescence to using our tax-dollars to allegedly purchase Russian diesel fuel. In plain language, this is “offering aid and comfort to the enemy,” a treasonable offense when Putin along with Xi, are providing targeting information to Iran to use against US servicemembers, ships, bases, facilities etc. Add to this Trump’s offer to sell China some of our most sophisticated computer chips and US weapons, only seals my claim of treason. I really don’t know how else this could be interpreted. We already have at least 21 killed and roughly a thousand wounded troops from the Iran war, and heaven knows the true numbers as that the Pentagon and the administration, continue to play hide and seek with casualty figures." - Trump and the GOP offer “aid and comfort” to the enemy,” a treasonous offense. - Truth about Threats - Paul Cobaugh - October 13th, 2026
The first legal hurdle in determining if Trump’s Diesel Deal was treasonous has been already been cleared, we are at war, whether the administration chooses to acknowledge it or not. Secondly is to determine if Russia is our enemy. This is also easy as that until the second Trump term, Russia has been acknowledged as an adversary in every single NSS, National Security Strategy during my lifetime. To further positively assess Russia as an adversary, see the quote below from the SSCI, Senate Select Committee on Intelligence report on Russia’s attack’s against the US during our 2016 elections and all since.
"Statement from Chairman Burr (R NC): “In 2016, the U.S. was unprepared at all levels of government for a concerted attack from a determined foreign adversary on our election infrastructure. Since then, we have learned much more about the nature of Russia’s cyber activities and better understand the real and urgent threat they pose. The Department of Homeland Security and state and local elections officials have dramatically changed how they approach election security, working together to bridge gaps in information sharing and shore up vulnerabilities. The progress they’ve made over the last three years is a testament to what we can accomplish when we give people the opportunity to be part of a solution." - Senate Intel Releases Election Security Findings in First Volume of Bipartisan Russia Report - Senate Select Committee on Intelligence - July 25, 2019
Russia has continued to attack the US via influence operations, often with witting and unwittingly cooperation of the GOP’s influence assets. This is detailed in volume five of what is commonly known as the Mueller Report. This committee was led by the Republicans who were in the majority in the US Senate. It took over three years to compile this detailed and damning report on GOP willingness to accept the Russian election meddling.
(U) FINDINGS "(U) The Committee found that the Russian government engaged in an aggressive, multifaceted effort to influence, or attempt to influence, the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. Parts of this effort are outlined in the Committee's earlier volumes on election security, social media, the Obama Administration's response to the threat, and the January 2017 Intelligence Community Assessment (ICA). (U) The fifth and final volume focuses on the counterintelligence threat, outlining a wide range of Russian efforts to influence the Trump Campaign and the 2016 election. In this volume the Committee lays out its findings in detail by looking at many aspects of the counterintelligence threat posed by the Russian influence operation. For example, the Committee examined Paul Manafort' s connections to Russian influence actors and the FBI' s treatment of reporting produced by Christopher Steele. While the Committee does not describe the final result as a complete picture, this volume provides the most comprehensive description to date of Russia's activities and the threat they posed. This volume presents this information in topical sections in order to address coherently and in detail the wide variety of Russian actions. The events explained in these sections in many cases overlap, and references in each section will direct the reader to those overlapping parts of the volume. Immediately below is a summary of key findings from several sections." - SSCI RUSSIAN ACTIVE MEASURES CAMPAIGNS AND INTERFERENCE IN THE 2016 U.S. ELECTION VOLUME 5: COUNTERINTELLIGENCE THREATS AND VULNERABILITIES - April 2019
To this very day, Russia, with the full understanding of the administration and US Congress, continues to attack US elections. I partially wrote on this earlier in the week because much of their effort against us is in support of Governor Greg Abbott and AG Ken Paxton of Texas.
So we now know without a shred of doubt that we are at war, Russia is an adversary and so it is time to determine that Russia is supporting Iran with targeting intelligence against US troops and our allies in the Persian Gulf. We have at least 23 deaths and as far as DoD will admit and roughly 865 wounded.
"It’s time for the U.S. government to prioritize confronting Russia and Iran’s expanding cooperation on intelligence and technology. At the current pace, there are few indications that the engagements between the two U.S. adversaries will do anything but accelerate and deepen—both speeding up the rate of cooperation and increasing the sensitivity of the intelligence, technology, and know-how shared. That cooperation already results in improved targeting and surveillance of U.S. forces, mutual enhancement of Russian and Iranian drone technology, and longer-term intelligence and military technology improvements. Further continuation or expansion of the cooperation will hurt U.S., allied, and partner security even more." - Time to Confront Escalating Russia-Iran Intelligence Cooperation - CSIS, Center for Strategic and International Studies - Commentary by Justin Sherman - Published September 30, 2026
It should be pretty clear by now that Putin’s Russia is assisting Iran in killing and wounding US service-members by providing intelligence for Iran’s attacks on our ships, planes, bases, infrastructure and our allies on the western side of the Persian Gulf. So next up, let’s determine how the administration along with the support of the Republican-led Senate and House of Representatives are committing treason. We’ll start with the useless for Americans, Diesel Deal.
"What does the deal mean for the future of U.S. sanctions on Russia? Last month, Trump signed into law new measures targeting illicit importers of Russian oil and gas. Experts and lawmakers who closely follow the war in Ukraine initially viewed the law as a sign that the White House would adopt a more hard-line approach toward Moscow. But many said the U.S.-Russia diesel deal runs counter to the spirit of the law—written by the late Senator Lindsey Graham—as well as long-standing economic policy toward Russia. Late on October 16, Trump signed an executive order exempting Russia from key sanctions and tariffs under the Graham Act, two days before it was scheduled to take effect, saying that the waiver was in the national interest." - Trump’s Russian Diesel Deal, Explained - CFR, Council on Foreign Relations - Mary Kate Godfrey, Staff writer and editor - October 19th, 2026
So here’s why that Trump’s acquiescence to Putin is treasonous. Russia, more than four years into a losing, genocidal war against Ukraine, is desperate for cash in order to continue fighting a war with Ukraine they cannot win without support from Trump, China, N. Korea, Iran, South Africa and countless other nations in Putin’s orbit. In the process, not only is Putin supplying Iran with intelligence but is also sending missiles to Tehran. Both are used against US forces and our allies in the region.
"In the first years of the war against Ukraine, Russia's economy has proven more robust than many expected, but now the buffers are depleted," says Moritz Schularick, President of the Kiel Institute for the World Economy and co-author of the report's overview chapter. “The underlying foundations of the economy have weakened considerably. Fiscal reserves have been largely exhausted, growth has come to a standstill, and the country's dependence on China is becoming ever more pronounced. At the same time higher oil prices as a result of the war in the gulf will likely only bring temporary fiscal effects", warns Schularick." - Endgame: Russia’s war economy hits its limits - Kiel Institut - June 11th, 2026
So here’s the deal regarding Russia. Her two primary cash exports are oil and weapons. Weapon sales are problematic because Russia doesn’t even have enough warfighting resources to support their current operations in Ukraine, let alone future fighting. They do though continue to export some weapons to maintain allies and for some desperately needed cash. Cash from oil sales is still their primary mechanism funding Putin’s war in Ukraine.
So long as the grotesque incompetence of the Pete Hegseth’s Pentagon and outside national security entities continue, the Hormuz Strait remains closed. When closed, oil supplies are restricted and result in the record high prices that we all pay at the pump. This drives our continually increasing inflation. Keep the Strait closed and Putin benefits from those high prices. Give him American tax dollars for an insignificant amount of diesel fuel that will not relieve the pain we are feeling at the fuel pump and again, Putin benefits. This is not high-level economics everyone. It is simple “supply and demand.” We are literally paying Putin to help Iran kill US and wound our troops.
The situation is beyond clear; all of us continue to pay unacceptable and debilitating inflation prices at home, while that Putin, rakes in more cash to fight his genocidal war in Ukraine and to deliver GOP supporting propaganda against every single American voter that isn’t voting for the GOP, especially here in Texas. So long as we are throwing good money after bad to fight this illegal war and with criminally negligent leadership that doesn’t give a damn about the lives or welfare of our troops and allies, I cannot think of a single reason that any voter should vote for any Republican in the midterms.
If Republicans in Congress had simply backed the constitution instead of this treasonous administration, no one would be dead or wounded, inflation might have a chance to slowly improve, and the US and global economy wouldn’t be barely surviving this Republican fiasco. As is, there is no end in sight for the Iran war, except for Trump and Netanyahu threats to return to the warpath post midterms. We’ll see as that Netanyahu and Trump are fighting for their parties to survive the election. If they do, say goodbye to any hope for financial recovery or peace in the near future. Most economists hold dim hopes for gas prices to fall for another year or so and the US and global economy even longer. If Republicans succeed in the midterms, blame their voters for the extended economic and national security pain.
Sure, Republican representatives and senators are now claiming that they were against the war but when they had the chance to put an end to this madness, they sat on their hands. Now they are begging for votes so they can slither spineless back into congress where they will again, steal our healthcare, raise the prices of products we require in our lives and support their un-American and unconstitutional, Project 2025 agenda.
I don’t know about you but I could hardly be more incensed that GOP voters are voting to keep these treasonous Republicans in office and willing to support the White House’s behavior, that kills and wounds American Servicemembers. After announcing this previously unknown purchase of diesel, the White House turned around and paused sanctions on Russian oil shipments despite congress having just passed bi-partisan legislation that outlawed such relief. The White House, DOJ and six of our SCOTUS Justices, seem to not care at all that the GOP continues breaking the law. There is no law or morality when it comes to today’s Republicans, except of course, for those of us who do not fawn at their dear leader’s feet.
Let’s ensure that we put an end to this Republican congress next Tuesday. It is the only way to stop the madness and treason.
Back one more time before Tuesday’s election. It will be a crazy four more days.
My very best to all,
Paul
